Why should you start therapy?

Psychological support offers a space to be heard and to reflect together. It can help you better understand how you experience things, make sense of what you’re going through and explore new possibilities for change.

There are times when it can help to pause and seek support. Sessions can offer a safe space to explore different aspects of yourself and personal concerns, including

  • anxiety issues
  • stress and emotional dysregulation
  • relational difficulties
  • life changes
  • melancholy, demotivation
  • need of a better self-awareness

Every therapeutic process is built together, starting from what really matters to you: your needs, your strengths, and your unique way of expressing yourself.
La creatività può essere una risorsa preziosa nell’espressione delle emozioni: a volte, accanto alle parole, possono trovare spazio anche forme come il disegno, la musica o altri linguaggi che aiutano a dare forma a ciò che è difficile dire.

The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our sessions. You don’t have to face what you’re going through alone: together, we find a way forward that feels right for you.

Psychological support: frequent questions

You don’t have to be in the middle of a crisis to seek psychological support. People may see a psychologist when they’re dealing with anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties or major life changes, or simply when they want to understand themselves better. Seeking support can also help you regain a sense of balance and clarity, and discover new ways of coping.

A psychologist is a mental health professional trained to provide psychological consultations, support and assessment. A psychotherapist is a psychologist or medical doctor who has completed further specialist training in psychotherapy. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor specialising in psychiatry and can prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, these professionals may work together.

Every person’s experience is different, so the support is tailored to their needs. Sessions are usually held weekly or every two weeks, although the frequency may change over time. The overall length depends on the goals we agree on together and what you’re going through at that point in your life.

The first session is an opportunity to talk and find your bearings. You can share what you’re going through, what led you to seek support and any goals you may have. It’s also a chance to ask questions, learn what the sessions might involve and see whether you feel comfortable with me.

You don’t need to know how to tell your story before starting therapy. Many people begin because they find it difficult to put what they’re feeling into words. Over time, sessions can help you make sense of your emotions, thoughts and experiences, sometimes using images, metaphors, writing or other forms of expression when helpful. I also find music, drawing and other creative tools valuable ways to explore emotions beyond conversation. The words can come later.
